The brief

Built around a business on the move.

For an on-location beauty business, booking is about more than choosing a treatment. The experience needs to bring services, team availability and appointment management together, while staying consistent with the customer-facing brand.

DD Network built a bespoke app for London Glam Squad alongside its Shopify storefront, giving the business a dedicated environment for booking operations rather than treating appointments as an afterthought.

Inside the experience

One brand. Three connected touchpoints.

Soft backgrounds, burgundy accents and elegant typography carry London Glam Squad’s visual identity from the app’s welcome screen to team access and storefront service selection.

Customer booking

From the right service to the right appointment.

An embeddable booking page opens with a Shopify product or page’s service context. The menu groups services by Shopify collections, with settings to choose which collections appear. Product and variant mapping lets the storefront preselect a service and send the selected merchandise to Shopify checkout.

  • Multiple services and add-ons
One checkout supports up to eight distinct services and ten add-on units, including product variants. Add-ons must accompany a main service.
  • Flexible appointment structure
Customers can choose one continuous visit with the same staff member or separate appointments for each main service.
  • At home or at the studio
Book at the customer’s address or, when enabled, at the studio. UK postcodes are checked against both the studio service zone and the assigned staff member’s coverage.
  • Schedule-aware availability
Date, time and eligible-staff choices take account of team schedules, appointment conflicts, shop closures and preparation gaps.
  • A ten-minute checkout hold
The selected appointment is held for ten minutes while the customer completes Shopify checkout. Payment still requires manager review before confirmation.
  • Optional SMS reminder
Customers can opt in to one SMS reminder approximately 24 hours before their appointment.

Inside Shopify

The management workspace, in focus.

The backend brings the LGS Appointments workspace into Shopify. These screens show the overview dashboard, service catalogue, appointment list and navigation, with the same branded visual language carried through the management experience.

Manager console

The operational heart of the studio.

The overview dashboard brings together today’s and upcoming appointment counts, active services and staff, monthly revenue, a weekly booking chart, the next appointment and upcoming bookings.

  • Appointment management
Review history, create client bookings, edit customer details and notes, reassign eligible upcoming bookings, complete or reopen appointments, and delete bookings.
  • Checkout review
Inspect pending reservation holds and confirm an appointment after personally checking the Shopify order and reservation reference.
  • Service management
Add, edit, search, activate, deactivate or delete services; set durations and manual prices; link Shopify products, variants and page paths; assign staff; and identify add-ons.
  • Team management
Add, edit, search, activate, deactivate or remove team members, with roles, email addresses, weekly working hours and service assignments.
  • Access controls
Approve staff sign-ins against verified accounts and select or revoke the standalone manager. Revoking access retains the staff profile and its appointments.
  • Scheduling and shop settings
Configure preparation gaps, allowed UK postcode areas, studio appointments and address, closure dates, time zone and manual-service currency.
  • Booking-page appearance
Preview and change customer-facing wording, colours, fonts and visible Shopify collections.
  • Separate sign-in branding
Manage the login-page logo, eyebrow text and footer colour independently of the booking page.
  • Notification operations
Configure the studio time zone, Resend sender and Twilio settings; inspect recent delivery status and errors; and retry failed notifications.
  • Shopify privacy-request tools
Download shop-linked booking and reservation data as JSON, then mark a request fulfilled after delivering the export.

Staff portal

A focused workspace for each team member.

Staff see only their assigned appointments, with schedule, customer, service and booking details. The list refreshes automatically, and a confirmed appointment can be marked complete once it has started.

Each team member can choose which assigned services they take on and define their own coverage using UK postcodes or catchment areas, or a postcode-centred radius. Availability and coverage are part of the booking experience, not separate spreadsheets.

Shopify setup and billing

Designed to connect with the storefront.

Setup tools generate Shopify Custom Liquid booking buttons, add-on buttons, manual embed code and direct links to individual services. Product and variant mapping carries service context into the booking page and selected merchandise into Shopify checkout.

A Shopify billing page shows subscription status and supports starting or reconnecting Shopify authorisation. The project lists Free, with one active staff member and three bookable services, and Unlimited, at £9.99 every 30 days. These are the listed app plans, not a custom-development project quote; plan-limit enforcement is not active yet.

Current implementation notes

Clear boundaries, not overstated automation.

Payment is not verified automatically. A manager must check the Shopify order and reservation reference, then confirm the appointment.

The Shopify theme app block exists in the project but still needs publication through the confirmed Shopify app registration before it appears in the theme editor. The embed-code and button-generation tools are separate from that publication step.

The billing page lists Free and Unlimited plans, but plan-limit enforcement is not active yet.

The result

A connected foundation for mobile beauty.

The project brings customer booking, manager operations and staff workflows into a Shopify-connected app. Service context, schedule-aware availability and postcode-based coverage shape the customer journey, while the manager console and staff portal support the work behind each appointment.

The case study describes the delivered capabilities and current implementation boundaries, without attributing unmeasured revenue increases, conversion gains or time savings to the app.
